Anti-aliasing and Simulation Time

The standards [3],[4] also specify the use of an anti-aliasing filter. A suggested filter that meets the required specifications is a first order 10Hz low pass filter with 0.2dB attenuation at the passband edge and it is this that has been used. It is also required that for observation intervals, $\tau$ such that $0.1\leq \tau \leq 1000s$, as were simulated, the sampling time be no greater than $\frac{1}{30}s$ and that the minimum measurement period (the minimum total simulation time) for TDEV be at least $12\tau$. These result in certain simulation difficulties which are discussed in sections 7.1.2 and 7.2.
